New Group Pushes for Change in State Education Funding Formula

An education advocacy group contends Wilkes-Barre Area School District (Luzerne Co.) wouldn’t have to layoff a single teacher — much less the several dozen facing furloughs after the school board voted to suspend four programs Monday — if the state doled out education money based on a formula devised by a bipartisan commission last year.
