House Republicans and Democrats Unlikely Allies in State Pension Battle

Call it a case of strange bedfellows, courtesy of Pennsylvania’s prolonged budget stalemate. A recent House vote on a proposed overhaul of the state’s pension systems for state and public school employees had groups that usually oppose each other — public sector unions and conservative organizations that favor less government spending — working on the same side, but for opposite reasons.
