House GOP Selects Leaders

Newly elected members of the House Republican leadership held media availability on the floor of the House of Representatives on Nov. 9 to discuss the caucus’s leadership elections. Members in attendance were the Republican nominee for Speaker of the House Sam Smith (R-Jefferson), Majority Leader Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny), Majority Whip Stan Saylor (R-York), Majority Caucus Chairman Sandra Major (R-Susquehanna), Majority Caucus Administrator Richard Stevenson (R-Mercer) and Majority Caucus Secretary Michael Vereb (R-Montgomery). Speaker-designee Smith stated the caucus just completed a comprehensive caucus election. He stated it was a long day with lots of members expressing their interests. He noted this was a good caucus election and that the leaders are very much looking forward to leading the House and working with the Senate and governor.
