Dear Pennsylvania Administrators,
I am writing to inform you about an important update regarding the Pennsylvania Inspired Leadership (PIL) program. The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is currently transitioning to a new PIL induction program vendor, the Pennsylvania Principals Association. The new PIL induction program is tailored to new building assistant/vice principals and building principals, and is timed to be considerate of the workload demands of educators throughout the year.
To accommodate school leaders impacted by this transition, PDE will prioritize building assistant/vice principals or building principals serving in their fourth or fifth year who haven’t yet completed the induction requirement. This will ensure their ability to convert to a Level II certificate. PDE will also provide opportunities for Administrators who did not complete the NCEE induction program to transfer hours and credits to the new induction program regardless of the provider.
PIL induction courses will begin in January 2025, and participants can register for the program on the SAS PD Center.
If you have any questions, please contact RA-EDACT45@pa.gov.
Thank you, as always, for your tireless efforts on behalf of Pennsylvania’s schools, learners, and communities.

Additional Details –
Registration for Induction Courses will begin in December 2024 and will be found in the SAS PD Center. The new induction program will be one year in length and participants will earn 80 hours at the end of the year. Along with the building principals and building assistant principals who are serving in their fourth or fifth year and need the induction courses, building principals and building assistant principals who are in their second year of Provisional Administrative Certificate will also have priority to complete the induction courses.
All induction updates and a robust FAQ can be found on PDE’s one-stop-shop. Please visit this page and bookmark it. It will announce when courses are open for registration and next steps. The FAQ is a resource built from questions that administrators across the state have asked. It is a valuable resource for administrators. |
