Ed Kang loved science growing up and ended up earning a Ph.D. in neuroscience. But he left academia to teach high school over 10 years ago, believing one of the reasons students at neighborhood schools (non-magnet) in Chicago dislike science is that they don’t have teachers who are passionate about the subject.
