Introduction from the New Diversity at Large Representative on the PA Principals’ Board

It is a pleasure and honor to introduce myself to you as the new Diversity-At Large Board Member for the Pennsylvania Principals Association. My initial goals are to listen to and learn from you and all our stakeholders so we can identify our priorities as educational leaders regarding diversity issues.

I have been a proud public school educator since 1996 and have been fortunate to have worked with inspiring students, teachers, and administrators in New York and Pennsylvania as an ESL and social studies teacher, middle school principal, Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction, and university adjunct instructor. I care deeply about education and hope to support you and your important work however I can.

Since one of my areas of interest is ESL, I have been trying to keep up with all the changes ESSA made to ESL terminology. In an attempt to make sense of all these changes, I put together this summary and illustration. I am sharing the document with you in case you may find it useful.

I look forward to meeting many of you in person at our state conference in October. If you have any concerns or suggestions in the meantime, I encourage you to contact me so I can try to better represent you within our organization.

I wish you all a wonderful and productive school year.

Best regards,

Eduardo L. Antonetti
