Today is National Title II Day of Action!
June 14, 2017
Today is National Title II Day of Action! Please contact your representatives in Congress now and tell them to provide funds for states and districts to support teachers and principals.
As Congress considers the FY 2018 budget, lawmakers must hear from you about the importance of federal funds to help states and districts provide high quality preparation and professional learning programs for teachers and principals. The Administration has proposed eliminating the Supporting Effective Instruction State Grants program, Title II, Part A, of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which provides formula funds to states and districts for evidence-based programs to address teacher and principal recruitment, preparation, and on-going professional learning. More than ever before, states plan to use Title II, Part A funds to target and strengthen support for principal leadership. This is a critical need that many states and districts have overlooked for far too long, but additional support for principals will not be possible without sufficient funding for Title II, Part A of ESSA.
Please take action today and tell your Members of Congress why these funds are important to you as an educator.
Thank you in advance for your advocacy on behalf of all students and support for the profession!
