On Wednesday, November 2, 2016, Governor Wolf signed into law HB1734 (Act 118). Act 118 grants a one year extension for school entities to submit to the Secretary for approval their three-year professional education plan. It also grants a one-year extension to each professional educator’s current professional education compliance period. The Pennsylvania Department of Education is working to update the Professional Education Record Management System (PERMS) and will post an FAQ on the Act 48 and PERMS website to address the practical implications of the law.
