A letter, signed by numerous state associations, including the PA Principals Association, in support of FY 2017 for the School Leader Recruitment and Support Program was sent yesterday by the NASSP and the NAESP to the House and Senate Appropriations Committees and the education aides for all members of Congress.

Specifically, we would like to bring your attention to the School Leader Recruitment and Support program (SLRSP), which is the successor to the School Leadership program, and the only federal education program specifically for principals, assistant principals, and other school leaders. The SLRSP is also the only federal initiative that directly supports the recruitment, preparation, placement, support, and retention of effective principals and other school leaders in high-need schools. It is important to note that this program was authorized under Section 2243 of the Every Student Succeeds Act. We ask that you work to secure no less than $30 million for FY2017.
