House Stopgap Budget Call to Action

Attention Members: Your state Representative needs to hear from you TODAY about the need to pass a budget that supports Pennsylvania’s students. This may be the last chance before the holidays to pass a state budget; if the budget stalemate lasts into January, some schools have already announced that they will not reopen after the holidays and others will be forced to make painful decisions to keep the doors open.
A bill that increases basic education funding by $350 million dollars, part of an agreement between the Governor and legislative leaders, passed the state Senate in an overwhelming bipartisan vote. Leaders in the state House of Representatives are allowing just 24 hours to determine whether there are enough votes to pass that Senate budget. So it’s important that we all weigh in now with our state Representatives.
