The 2021 Pennsylvania Youth Survey, or PAYS, collected the anonymous thoughts of more than 246,000 students in about 450 public and private schools about mental health, substance use and risk behaviors. And, it served to spark discussion on the topic of mental health in schools among members of the legislative agency Center for Rural Pennsylvania and leaders in academics and public health.
